The Search Tim approach to SEO (Search Engine Optimisation)
The basic principles that I adopt when attempting to improve the performance of a website in search engine results are as follows:-
1. Analysis
Various tools are employed to analyse the website. This is the start of an ongoing process.
2. Keyword and key phrase research
In consultation with the client the target keywords and phrases are identified. Factors such as relevance, search volume and competition will be considered.
3. Website structure and usability
The structure of the website will be examined to make sure that it is configured in a search engine friendly way. Attention will also be given to the usability and design aspect of the website.
4. Content
The content of the website is a crucial aspect in respect of SEO. Ongoing attention will be paid to make sure the maximum impact is being achieved in this area.
5. Links
A strategy will be implemented to encourage natural inbound links to the website that will not contravene guidelines given by the leading search engines such as Google.
6. Social Media
The rise of social media is such that it is no longer appropriate to consider it just under ‘Links’, it merits attention in it’s own right.
7. Creative thinking
As search engines are always refining their algorithms to produce more relevant results it is important to be open to adopting new ideas as and when appropriate.
There are no guarantees with SEO but by adopting these principles I have been very pleased with the results that I have achieved for clients.
